Issue Four's Sponsor Highlight
EZRTools;) !

Multi-Edit v9.10 and EZRTools combined will explode your productivity while programming in SAS.

Multi-Edit is already a great editor for almost any language out there. But combine this great editor with the EZRTools Add-on and you've got a powerful SAS programming tool, that will improve your productivity and reduce your development cycle time.

EZRTools;) is a collection of edit macros, templates, and other tools that allow Multi-Edit to become a "SAS IDE". If you have worked mainframes, UNIX and PC boxes, you've seen a lot of editors. The good one's are customizable and extendable. They have a level of complexity that takes a while to learn. The customization level you receive with Multi-Edit is beyond what you get from the ISPF or Unix shell environment. This includes being able to create your own edit macros, menus, tool bars, etc. With the EZRTools;) Add-On you can increase your programming power. With a copy of the SAS/PC you can develop, test, and fix at PC speeds, all locally. Conversely you can still use the powerful editing features and upload/download your work to the host.

A SAS tool kit is this new? What is the importance of EZRTools?
Both ISPF Edit and VI have features that many programmers often overlook (mask and line exclusion in ISPF, abbreviations and find-and-print in VI as examples). These features or their functional equivalents are available in Multi-Edit/EZRTools. The tools that come with EZRTools;) create short-learning-curve access to these powers in ways specialized for the SAS language. The CMac Reference Guide - Project Update

from our Technical Writer / Developer
- Ken Walker

Things have been coming along nicely with our new CMac Reference Guide. The manual is being proof-read and now that things are nearing completion, I will be spending more time on the forum answering your CMac, support and general questions. If you haven't been to the forum: http://www.multieditsoftware.com/forums/index.php, I encourage you to make your way and browse through, even if you don't have an immediate question.

Just reading other posts can often answer questions you didn't realize you had. And if you do have a question, there's a good possibility someone else has posted it and had that postulation answered, which means you could get your answer very quickly :)

Until next time, happy programming and see you on the forum!

Multi-Edit Software Manual at the printers!

- Gayle Urban

At long last - after considerable input from YOU, the users, our manual for Version 9.10 is at the printers. We wanted this manual to be as comprehensive as possible and formatted in such a way as to offer the maximum help source for you. To accomplish that, we needed to wait for enough of you to use our new version 9.10 and ask your questions. All of us here, who have sweated into many late nights to get this ready, hope that you will be happy with your efforts and ours. We will begin shipping them out to those of you who have ordered shipped copies as soon as we receive them.

So, this is a good time for you to verify that you have sent us your registrations.

In this way, we can be sure to have current, accurate shipping addresses. So, please check on that now by submitting your registration here for review. From all of us here at MESI, thanks for your patience and thanks for your input. We are as committed as ever to making sure that Multi Edit is the ONE editing tool developed FOR and BY the users - that's you - and your satisfaction is what we all work for.

Customer comments...

What I like best about Multi-Edit is the customizability of both the interface and the supporting macros. I have been able to tailor the UI so that it best fits my ergonomics and I have leveraged the CMAC language to create time saving mini-apps. The most exhaustive mini-app was an embedded file editor distributed amongst a team applying Year2000 changes.

From what I understand, this customizability is the foundation upon which ME was built and it comes as no surprise that it continues to be its most rewarding feature.

What are the best ways to reach your Support Tech???

- Carl Hall

Going into the Holiday Season I’d first like to wish you the very best and hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a joyous New Year.

I’d like to take my space in this newsletter to just remind everyone of how you can receive assistance with Multi-Edit issues whenever that may become necessary.

Your first option, and probably the best given the huge knowledge base you can draw upon all at once, is submitting a query to the Support Forum on our website located here under Support: http://www.multieditsoftware.com/forums/ Also, concerning the forum you can use the Search option found near the top of the page to look for threads relating to your issue and possibly solving them without ever having to actually post a question.

If this doesn’t get you results in a timely enough fashion you can send in an email directly to Support@multieditsoftware.com where we will jump right on the problem and try to figure out a solution for you as soon as possible. Support personnel will work on your issue and will work with you to find the solution, and if it becomes necessary, Development personnel may become involved as well to make sure that your work experience with Multi-Edit is the best and most efficient that it can be. It is also possible to send an email in by using the Help | Create Bug Report option found within the program itself

The final option is calling in to our Support line at (480) 610-2700 option 2 and if necessary, please leave a detailed message concerning the nature of your problem along with your registration information. Also be sure to specify your Serial number and product version number. We certainly hope that you never actually need to contact support in the use of our product, but we know that sometimes the Help file doesn’t cover every possible question in specific detail and there are times when a little help is needed to clarify an issue or resolve a particularly complicated problem. In these instances you should expect nothing less than prompt and courteous service.

Once again, I’d like to wish everyone a Happy Holiday season and the very best for the coming New Year!

Carl Hall, Level 1/Level 2 Support

P.S. Don't forget to read the Help File!
