Hello and welcome once again to The Developers News! As summer quickly approaches, so does the much anticipated release of Multi-Edit 2006!
Following many months of development and hard work, we've created the latest and greatest build of Multi-Edit! Multi-Edit 2006 is now available in Beta and Dan Hughes will give us a peek at what to expect in this build and where to get your hands on a copy today!
Also, keep an eye out for exciting new changes to the Multi-Edit website! Over the next few weeks we will be implementing a new look to the website to coincide with our new product line.

Development Updates from the VP

The development staff at Multi-Edit Software is proud to announce the release of the first beta of Multi-Edit 2006.
This beta will be open to all registered users of our forum. The first beta code will expire June 14 2006. We plan to have another beta and/or release candidate before this code expires.
No CMac source code will be installed although all of the *.sh files will be available if selected when installing to allow user written macros to be compiled and tested.
This beta is not feature complete so there will be more features added before the final release. Also the included help file has not been updated to reflect any of the changes but we plan to have it ready for testing before final release.

CMac TutorialsHave you encountered a situation where a regular expression search and replace just won't cut it, or user input is required, or perhaps keystroke macros are just not offering the complexity you need? Well, then it's time to look at Multi-Edit's CMac language.
CMac is a complete programming language, similar in syntax to C, designed specifically for the automation of text manipulation tasks. In fact, most of Multi-Edit itself is written in CMac.
If you're already familiar with a programming language like C and want to quickly get up to speed on CMac, then have a look at the tutorials I've written. From the simple "Hello World" to the complexities of dialog boxes and calling user written DLLs, these tutorials are a good companion to the CMac User Guide. MESI implements New Upgrade Policy
with the Launch of ME2006
Those of you who currently own a Multi-Edit license which is older than Multi-Edit v9.0 will no longer have an upgrade option upon the release of the next major build of Multi-Edit, ME2006 due June 2006. You will however continue to receive support from our staff via our support forums, and update files will remain on the server for older releases.
