Each quarter we'll be highlighting a user or company and how they are using Multi-Edit. This quarter will be highlighting registered user Morgana Welch who has written an interesting book using Multi-Edit as her editor of choice. Morgana's book 'Hollywood Diaries was written with Multi-Edit. She was already using Multi-Edit for web development and simply started using it to tailor her book. Take a moment to visit the new Many Uses of Multi-Edit section and take a look at her memoirs as a real example of a 'simplistic' use of one of the greatest editors in today's market!

What version of Multi-Edit are you using
and what are your upgrade/update options?With any software package there are always advantages to ensuring you are at the latest release of the product. These advantages include newly added features, feature enhancement, documentation updates and even bug fixes.
Checking what version of Multi-Edit you are currently using is as easy as clicking on Help | About to see what your current release is at. I've noted for you below the last build for the prior three Multi-Edit releases for your reference.
- Multi-Edit 2006: Latest build 10.05.00
- Multi-Edit 9.10.04: Final Build 9.10.04
- Multi-Edit 9.0: Final Build 9.0e
You can go about updating your Multi-Edit install using one of two methods. You may visit our product download page at http://www.multieditsoftware.com/downloads.php where all product patches, manuals and other items are posted, or by clicking on Help | Check for Upgrade. Using the Check for Upgrade option will automatically query our server and report back if a newer release of your version is available and allow for you to download the update immediately.
Now that we've taken a moment to discuss how to 'update' your current Multi-Edit installation let's discuss 'Upgrade' options. Currently Multi-Edit 9.x releases are eligible for upgrade to the current Multi-Edit 2006 release. To upgrade your 9.x release to the current Multi-Edit build you'll want to visit our online order form at https://www.multieditsoftware.com/meorder/ to place your order. You will need your current serial number in order to be validated for the discounted upgrade rate so be sure you have that handy when placing your order. Your serial number can also be found within the Help | About dialog of Multi-Edit.
Finally, a quick support tip on the differences between 'Updates' and 'Upgrades'.
When 'updating' your installation of Multi-Edit an installation is performed over the top of your current Multi-Edit install allowing newer files to overwrite existing files, but without losing any of your configurations or customizations to your current installation. An update must always be performed within the current installation directory.
When 'upgrading' your installation of Multi-Edit you'll want to be sure to install to a 'new' location as a new release of Multi-Edit will need a clean installation path to avoid any file corruption. During the installation of an upgrade, you'll have an option to 'import' any previous installation configurations into your new install so that you can maintain all your settings from your previous version. PLEASE NOTE: You can put the install a new directory if desired as all of our current updates are full version installs, but we do recommend that they be installed on top of the current version.

Using Multi-Edit in the final stages of editing my recently published book was a breeze!
